Who's Positive Announces HIV Positive Speakers Bureau ~Seeking HIV Positive Speakers!

HIV+ Speakers Bureau Search

Who’s Positive is proud to announce the formation of a national HIV-Positive Speakers Bureau. This bureau will assist anyone seeking HIV-positive speakers for lectures, conferences, colleges, high schools, etc. to help humanize the stories of those infected or affected by HIV. It is hoped that by sharing the stories of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS that we’ll help to encourage and provide opportunity for people to empower themselves to know their HIV status. We want to launch and head 'the' National HIV-positive Speakers Bureau. We hope to become 'the place' people go to anytime they need a speaker infected or affected by HIV/AIDS

Who’s Positive is currently seeking to contract individuals & couples who identify as HIV infected or affected to submit their stories, no longer than one page, contact information and a picture to speakers@whospositive.org. Who’s Positive will begin a selection process and invitations will be offered to those who can articulate their stories, emotions, and feelings associated with being infected or affected with HIV/AIDS. This process is expected to begin the first quarter of 2012.

Our official website for the Speakers Bureau is currently under construction and will be officially launch in 2012. “I’ve wanted to do this for years says Tom Donohue, founding director for Who’s Positive. My travels and conversations with people infected and affected across the country reaffirm that people do want to talk about their stories, they want to help humanize their stories to the point it becomes a prevention tool. Who’s Positive is the perfect liaison and outlet for people infected and affected to share their stories.”

If you are interested in submitting your information - please go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/wpspeakersbureau and fill out a survey to be considered. This survey is long, it's intended to be that way and will take you at least 20 minutes to complete. We are seeking individuals or couples who want to and can tell their story, it begins with you telling your story in writing. Once you submit your story and survey, you'll be considered to move to the next step which will be a discussion with staff at Who's Positive about your story. We expect that to take part in late first quarter 2012 or early second quarter of 2012.

Developing the site is time consuming. We want to be that portal that people use to find the right speaker.

Danny WeaverI am a 42 y/o GWN who has been HIV+ since 2008. I am also a recovering alcoholic and have been clean since 7/09.

I am a member of the "speaker's bureau" for Manatee and Sarasota County.

With the help of a friend from POZIAM, I have my story and it reads like a novel.

I am very interested in being part of your speaker's bureau and want to do my part to "stop the stigma" and educate wherever I can.

Please consider me for this position.

I appreciate your time.

Stacey DriskellMy husband and myself are AIDS/HIV+
We at found out at different times. in 06 my husband almost died on me in July I had to leave him in Tulsa and come back to MO to work my 3rd shift job. I had to take him back to the hospital in Jan of 07 where i was told not to leave him he was not going to live through this episode. He got very ill and ran a fever of 107.0, he was so ill that i did not go anywhere for 4 days. We had been married only 6 years and then i found out in Sept of 06 that i was HIV +. and diabetic, type 2. We have a good support system going for us. we also have a place called APO Aids Project of the Ozarks. we live in a small town in MO where no one knows how many people have it at i guess it will just keep getting worse as the days goes by.I know that a lot of people like around us have Hep C and i guess I can be thankful that don't have it also. Please let me know if we could help with talking about our story's
thank you Stacey Driskell
